Terms and Conditions

Customers whose pick up location is in Belize City or the international airport must book on AQ Belize Car Rental website @ https://aqbelizecarrental.com/

Customers must have a valid drivers license with another form of ID:

  • -- For international customers: passport is preferred

  • -- For locals: social security is preferred

 

Must be 21+ years to rent.  The following requirements will apply for drivers between 21 to 23 years:

1.Take up company insurance (FULL COVERAGE)

2.Must leave double CASH security deposit

3.Must have two forms of ID.

 

Our rentals are allowed in TIKAL GUATEMALA AND CHETUMAL/MEXICO.  However, you will be 100% responsible for the rental whilst out of the country of Belize and in the event of any accidents and/or breakdowns. You MUST obtain the authorization letter from us to take the rental across to Guatemala border prior to travelling to Tikal (a small fee will apply). To enter into Mexico City the Mexican Insurance must be purchase from us at the time of the rental.  The customer is 100% responsible to purchase his Guatemala Insurance in Guatemala, AQ Belize ONLY sells the Mexican Insurance. Please note that you must give us 48 HOURS NOTICE to prepare the authorization letter to cross into the Guatemalan Border.  A security deposit is required for rentals going to Mexico and Guatemala. 

 

DISCOVERY credit card is not accepted in the country of Belize, the bank has temporarily disrupted this service until further notice. ONLY AMEX/Master/Visa Card and Cash are accepted as form of payment.

Customers paying rental with CASH, a Security Deposit of US $1000 and up is applicable (Depending on type of vehicle).  

 

Customers paying with credit card and if renting for 3 days+ can decline Insurances; however,  a SECURITY DEPOSIT of USD $1000 and up (depending on the rental) will be required .

 

Not all credit card offers full international coverage, Please note accidents here are not reported to the USA. and customers who qualify to decline is responsible to pay full cost upfront. 

*MUST purchase full coverage (CDW, Non-CDW, DP, Tire and Windshield) when renting for less than 3 days.*

*Cannot decline insurances if paying with a Debit Card or Cash.*

Our additional protection coverages can help you stay protected for wherever the road takes you. Best to be safe than sorry*

Customers who have purchased our CDW and NON-CDW insurance will be responsible for the first US$1000 DEDUCTIBLE (no matter the extent of damages or whether fault is accepted or not) in a collision before the insurance kicks in.  Customers can also purchase the DP (deductible protection) along with the      CDW/Non-CDW which waivers their responsibility from paying the US$1000 deductible.

 

Customers paying with a valid Credit Card can decline our add-ons insurance coverages eg.-(windshield, tire, Non-CDW, DP, damage/lost key). The Card must be used to reserve and pay for the entire vehicle rental. In addition, customers may be required to leave a cash deposit.  Declining our insurances puts customer's at 100% responsibility no matter if fault is accepted or not for any or all damages.  Total cost of damages must be paid upon return of the rental and customers can claim reimbursement with their credit card company.  Your credit card company covers you "their customers" not our rentals due to the roads and highways in Belize. It's best to be safe than sorry!

 

Renters must present a valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard) or valid Debit card with electronic chip. An imprint /copy of the renter’s credit card is required with a valid pictured ID/passport, no bank cards accepted.  Debit cards are not accepted as security deposit.  Rental can be paid with the debit card; however, a cash deposit will apply.  Customers can also pay the security deposit with the debit card and it will be refunded back to them upon their return of the rental once the rental is returned in the same condition as it was received. 

 

All vehicles must be returned at the time and location agreed on the rental contract.  Additional drivers are not allowed to return the rental.  Rental MUST be returned by the contract holder. 

  

Charges will be applied for late returns at US$10.00  per hour and after 3 hours; a full day rate will enter into effect.

 

Rentals should be returned with the same level of fuel as rented out with. Extra fuel is customer’s responsibility as no refunds will be granted. Vehicle must be filled up with Premium or Super Gasoline.  A service fee in addition to the cost of the fuel will apply for shortage of fuel.  Customers are strongly advised to refuel to the same level they received before returning the rental.

 

Rental extensions should be paid by customers before the original time on the contract expires. Failure to call (for extra hours) or make payment (for extra days) will result in void of insurance and any issue arising while not under an agreement will be customer's responsibility.

 

Highway speed limit is 55mph/90kmh on highway and 15mph-25mph in villages.(note: there are many villages along the highway.)

 

A cleaning fee of US$30 - $50.00 will be charged if the rental vehicle is returned in a condition considered dirty beyond normal that is not caused by regular road use.  We have a NON-SMOKING policy inside our rental.      A USD $200.00 fee will apply for not adhering to our non-smoking policy.

Customers paying with credit card CANNOT DECLINE CDW Insurance if renting for 3 days and less.

If our rental is to be dropped off in Belize City or the Philip Goldson International Airport, a drop off fee will apply for that service. Charges are calculated at the time of booking or request.

If you are involved in an accident, please call 911. do not move or abandon the vehicle until the police and insurance inspector have arrived and notify us immediately.

 

Road from Belize City to Placencia is all paved, but most tourist attractions requires a 2WD High Clearance Vehicle. Once you divert off from the Main Highways and going in Mountain Pine Ridge a 4WD is strongly recommended.  

*IMPORTANT* DRIVING IN BELIZE: on an added note, driving in Belize is like driving anywhere else in the world except for one thing. When making a left hand turn any approaching vehicle or any vehicle immediately behind you has the right away. You must pull over to the extreme right hand side of the road and let both lanes of traffic clear before turning left.
